sometimes straight people like to discuss marriage and talk about how they think that it should be separate from the state.
they say that everyone should have equal unions of some other name and basically they talk theory about it for a bit and pat themselves on the back.
and, you know, that’s their rationale for opposing same-sex marriage, because they’re acting on that ideology about how marriage should theoretically be managed.
though these are also usually people who either are married or will marry without a word about that ideology when they do.
so it’s really just like, go fuck yourselves.
